Monique
Thompkins is a 23 year old Washington native. Monique
discovered her passion for dance at a young age.
She continued honing her craft throughout her high
school years at Duke Ellington School of the Arts
in Georgetown, with a focus on dance. Monique’s
talents continued to grow and she was awarded a partial
scholarship to the University of the Arts, where
she majored in Dance with a concentration in Jazz
Dance Performance.
During
her time at UArts, Monique continued to challenge
herself both in and out of
the classroom by founding
a community service based organization appropriately
titled Ladies of Service, which has been recognized
for its achievements, winning the University’s
Organization of the Year award every year, following
its inception
in 2010. Monique’s leadership role within Ladies
of Service and the University as a whole was recognized
by her professors and peers, who chose her as the 2010
Student Leader of the Year Award recipient.
Monique
is now pursuing another dream working in Federal
Law Enforcement as an Investigative Research Specialist
for the Department of Health and Human Services.
Her
love for dance, however, remains. She is currently
in her second year with the Washington Redskins Cheerleaders.
