Sierra
Hadley,
Miss
District of Columbia Teen USA®,
was born on July 16th 1993 to Janice Pinckney and
Lloyd Hadley in the Nation’s Capital. She was
enrolled in the French Immersion Program from kindergarten
to eighth grade where her first language in school
was French. She attended Charles Herbert Flowers
High School where she was a cheerleader for three
out of four years. Two of those three years, she
was chosen to perform with UCA cheerleaders in London.
She also maintained a position among the top 0.2%
of her class. Sierra has worked for the Department
of Commerce where she edited databases for the International
Trade Administration while also lifeguarding at Six
Flags America.
During
her senior year, Sierra worked at USDA on a boar
semen preservation project. That
same year, she placed
in the USDA science competition which made history
for her high school. Sierra has participated in charity
events
such as collecting canned goods for families during
thanksgiving, toys for tots, and the annual Susan
G. Komen Breast Cancer
walk. She describes herself as ambitious and a person
that ceases the moment. She even gave blood once to
Children’s
Hospital simultaneously after seeing the blood drive
bus.
Sierra
is now a freshman at Howard University in Washington
D.C. where she is a member of their cheerleading
team.
She is majoring in nursing in order to become a neonatal
nurse practitioner. Sierra is keen to succeeding in
life and lives by the quote; “You only fail when you
don’t try.”
